Northeast Philly Strong

$26.00$32.00

On January 31, 2025 tragedy struck Northeast Philadelphia as a plane crashed into the Castor Gardens section of our community. That night first responders rushed to the scene and provided essential services to ensure our community was safe and secure. After the crash families and friends struggled with the loss of loved ones, homes destroyed, and livelihoods erased.

Through this tragedy Northeast Philly has shown a resolve and fight that has impressed us all. Our community is a working class one; a service-oriented, helping neighborhood made up of teachers, nurses, construction workers, and first responders. Members of this neighborhood work to help and support others and their families. Now we all turn inward to heal, recover, and help.

The needs of our community are great- food, housing, home repairs, mental health, insurance issues, business support, and administrative issues. There are some issues that do not fit neatly into a government or nonprofit box. The family that has a broken door or damaged car that insurance will not fully cover. The business that has property damage that is not covered by their insurance policy. These issues are critical to families and their businesses- we want to meet the moment.

That is why we are proposing the Northeast Philly Strong Fund administered by Oxford Circle Christian Community Development Association (“OCCCDA”). We will hear from families and businesses on those needs that will help sustain them over the next few months. You can use the above link to purchase a Northeast Philly Strong t-shirt and $10 out of each purchase will go towards this fund. Impacted families and businesses will work with OCCCDA, Representative Dougherty, Representative Solomon, local businesses, civic leaders, and others to help those struggling with the aftermath of this plane crash.
